Lanka Premier League to cater to global audience; A-Sports and Fox Sports acquire broadcast rights

After the tremendous success of the first season of the Lanka Premier League last year, the tournament is set to attain an even wider audience for its second season with broadcasters acquiring rights to telecast the tournament in their respective countries.

The cricket-crazy fans of India will have an opportunity to witness the biggest cricketing stars in action on SONY SIX & SONY TEN 2 channels and the OTT platform SonyLIV. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s first HD sports channel, A-Sports will broadcast the second season of Lanka Premier League in Pakistan.

The cricket enthusiasts in Australia can catch their favourite stars hit the ball out of the park on beIN SPORTS, available within Fox Sports and Kayo Sports packages and the fans in the United Kingdom can watch the international stars on British free-to-air sports television channel – FreeSports.  USA and Canada, which has seen a rise in cricket fandom in the last year, can follow the exciting and explosive Lanka Premier League on Willow TV. Meanwhile, the passionate fans in Bangladesh can cheer for their favourite teams on T Sports. And last but not the least, the home fans can catch their own Sri Lankan cricketing stars on Supreme TV. And Daraz, through their e-commerce platform www.daraz.lk, have acquired digital rights and will stream the matches live for fans shopping on the platform.

Lanka Premier League to open ticket sales up to 50 percent capacity

The organizers of Lanka Premier League and Sri Lanka Cricket upon recommendation of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, have decided to open ticket sales for up to 50 percent of stadium capacity for the second season of the tournament, which will be held from 05th December 2021 to 23rd December 2021. The league matches will be hosted at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, while the knockouts will be held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota. 


Along with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health and Sri Lanka Cricket, IPG will implement a robust plan to ensure that all the measures are followed to prevent the spread of Covid-19. All the fans in the stands will need to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times during the matches.
